OK. How retarded is this?
I phone the finance company this morning to pay off my car loan. I still owe $3,500.00 on it but just want to pay it off so I have one less thing to worry about over the summer.
I speak with a very nice customer service rep. and she tells me my balance, which I already knew.
“What would you like to do Mr. Daddy?” She asks…
“I’d like to pay off the loan in full today…”
“Well, lets see what I can do for you…”
I wait a minute or so and hear the tapping of her keyboard.
“OK Mr. Daddy, here’s what I can do. I can take a payment of $1,500.00 today, and in 30 days take another payment of $1,500.00, then in 60 days take another payment of $500.00…”
WTF?
“You mean I can’t give you the whole amount now?”
“Well, I’ll have to talk with my supervisor…”
I’m put on hold for about five minutes…
“Mr. Daddy? Are you still there?”
“Yes.”
“Good. We’ll take the $1,500.00 today then…?”
At this point I walked over to a wall in my kitchen and began to pound my forehead repeatedly…
Sometimes I wonder why it’s even worth getting out of bed every morning.
